Blyth Staiths
Looking south over the cut-down base of the North Side Staiths (per OS maps) at Blyth in 1987. These were once much higher to allow coal to be dropped from railway wagons into coastal ships. In the left background is Alcan's facility for transferring alumina to trains for Fort William.
