Chingford
This bridge carries what is now the London Overground Chingford to Liverpool Street line between Chingford (to the north, right) and Highams Park (to the south, left) and dates from 1971, replacing Hatch Lane level crossing with Hatch Lane itself diverted under the bridge. Seen here through the front upstairs windows of a no. 212 bus from Chingford Station to Walthamstow Central, in pouring rain at 14.40 on Monday, 28th October 2024. A station at Chingford Hatch, south of the former level crossing, was once proposed by the GER but it was never built. It would come in useful these days as the line here is surrounded by housing.
