Hairmyres
Electrification masts are being erected and a new station is being constructed at Hairmyres. Time is running out for the 156 units on the East Kilbride branch as 156510 and 156505 head back to Glasgow Central on 11 November 2024. Sited 600m from the current single platform Hairmyres the existing loop will be extended westwards to serve the new two platform station. Rail for the new line is already sitting in the four-foot pending temporary closure of the line in early 2025 for the major parts of the project to take place.
