Bredbury Waste Terminal

With the closure of the Woodhead route in 1981, the link line from Godley Junction to Woodley also closed, as did the line from Woodley on through Stockport to the Lymm line. Most of the route was lifted but a short section from Woodley was retained and serves a waste transfer station and a stone terminal at Bredbury, which were both opened in 1986 and see regular traffic in 2024. This view from a public footbridge looks towards Stockport and shows the run round loop for the stone terminal, which is beyond the bridge, and the link into Bredbury Waste Terminal, which has its own run round loop.
