Dumfries

The current station at Dumfries is a key stop on the G and SW Main Line and it dates back to the 1880s when it was built to replace two earlier sites (see later posts). When opened it boasted three through lines with bays at the north end of the station to accommodate services to Lockerbie and Stranraer Harbour which were lost in the 1960s. On Saturday 17th November 2024, 156458 waits its departure time with a service to Carlisle having not long arrived from the Border city.
