Dumfries Shed

An ordinary passer-by would notice very little of the former Dumfries station immediately south of the current station. This site replaced the original terminus station further south. To the east of the line was Dumfries shed 85802. Designed by Andrew Galloway, it boasted 6 roads which were approached from the south. The shed closed to steam in 1966 and was demolished in 1981. The shed site now houses the Galloway Police Headquarters.
