Armathwaite

Armathwaite Signalbox cannot be missed thanks to its unusual but authentic bright yellow colour. The current box was built to replace a previous box lost to fire in the 1890s. It was closed in January 1983 before being leased to the Friends of the Settle and Carlisle in 1992 and is currently maintained by volunteers. When I visited in November 2024 it had not long celebrated its 125th anniversary.
