Appleby North Junction

A long way from home for Chiltern Railways 68013 'Peter Wreford-Bush'. It was returning south whilst working the 1229 Carlisle New Yard to Crewe Basford Hall on the 12th March 2024 when it experienced power issues. Upon arrival in Appleby the decision was made to set back into the sidings to keep the mainline clear. The train was then shortened leaving some wagons in the sidings and shortly after these photos were taken it continued south to Crewe. The stranded wagons were collected the next day. The sidings previously linked up with the Penrith to Kirkby Stephen 'Eden Valley Line' before its full closure in 1989.
