Gateshead
In a photograph thought to date from 1972, a 2-car Metro Cammell DMU departs from Gateshead (East) on the short journey over the Tyne to Newcastle Central. The station closed to passengers on 23rd May 1981.The footbridge in the shot connected to the former Gateshead West which, after years of an almost non existent service, had closed on 1st November 1965.
