Hylton

Hylton station, looking towards Sunderland, photographed on 2nd September 1968. Passenger services ceased as from 4th May 1964 (Durham - Sunderland service withdrawn) although the line remained open until 01/01/1971 when it was cut back from Penshaw to Ford Works, a little over the level crossing. The current Metro station of South Hylton is on the other side of the crossing.
