Newcastle Central

Exterior of Newcastle Central station, at 11.56 on Tuesday, 17th December 2024. This station was originally opened on 29th August 1850 with the portico added in 1860 and then enlarged in the 1890s. Station running-in boards simply say "Newcastle" while the Tyne & Wear Metro station, in deep-level tube tunnels below, is christened "Central Station". I think it would be nice to see the running-in boards displaying Newcastle-upon-Tyne, the full name of this vibrant north-eastern city, or at least Newcastle Central.
