Manchester Victoria

Victoria East ceased to be a true junction from 15th September 1998, when the Cheetham Hill Loop closed. However, there are still points to switch between slow and fast lines and so, despite being very close to Victoria, it is still a timing point. This sign stands alongside Miles Platting Bank, as seen from a Bury bound Metrolink Tram, on 27th March 2024. The northern half of the Cheetham Hill Loop was reused for Metrolink trams to Oldham and Rochdale from 2013 onwards but the remainder down to this point was lifted and part of the viaduct demolished.
