Moorgate [GNand CR]
717001 just arrived at Moorgate where it terminated, at 13.19 on New Year's Day, 1st January 2025. This is where, tragically, the Moorgate disaster of 28th February 1975 occurred, when the line was still part of the London Underground. It does not seem like nearly half a century ago, as I worked in Moorgate at the time. A train of LU 1938 stock, instead of slowing down as it arrived at the station, accelarated through the platform and crashed into the over-run tunnel, resulting in 43 fatalities and 74 serious injuries.
