Clifton and Lowther
Transpennine Express 397002 crossing the M6 and passing under the A6 on approach to Clifton, south of Penrith, whilst working 1M87 1334 Carlisle to Manchester Airport on the 25th January 2025. A reduced timetable in the aftermath of Storm Eowyn saw very few trains running on the usually busy WCML. Network Rail have recently announced plans to completely replace the bridge over the M6 in January 2026 which will see the line closed for two weeks.
