Brinnington Junction

Looking north eastwards at the site of Brinnington Junction where until 1966 a chord to Reddish Junction diverged left from the main line to Woodley, which then linked on to the Woodhead route. Through trains to Cheadle Junction and beyond ceased with the Woodhead route closure but a single line to the stone terminal at Stockport Portwood, behind the camera, lasted until 1986. Both routes from here are now cycling greenways but the chord route now diverges at a right angle a little further on.
