Kirkby Thorpe Gypsum Works

Colas Rail 43303 passing the southern entrance to New Biggin British Gypsum, Kirkby Thore, working 1Q13, 1423 Carlisle to York on 10th February 2025. 43357 on the rear. In October 2024, the flow of gypsum transferred from DB Cargo to Freightliner, who route the train via the Tyne Valley to Kingmoor Yard, where the loco runs round before heading south on the S&C. Reaching a signal just beyond this bridge, the train then reverses over the crossover into the works from the south. Departing trains exit from the north, directly onto the down line, retracing the route to Tees Dock.
