Wrexham Central, seen here in April 1969, opened in 1887 as a terminus but in 1895 became a through station with the opening of a line to Ellesmere. It reverted to terminus status in 1962 when the line to Ellesmere was closed and in the following decades saw the usual reduction in facilities and track layout. Finally in 1998 the station was moved some 400 yards to the west and the original station site was, as far as I know, redeveloped.
