Rawtenstall

Rawtenstall closed to passengers in June 1972 as the terminus of a branch from Bury Bolton Street but until December 1966 the railway had continued east to serve the town of Bacup. On a wet day in 1972 prior to closure this was the view from the platform end looking towards Bacup. Rawtenstall East box controlled this crossing and closed with it. Rawtenstall West has survived into the preservation era.
