Loch Eilt

May 1985 saw the introduction of the ‘Royal Scotsman’ luxury train tour of the Scottish Highlands on an itinerary that included a steam-hauled return trip along the Mallaig extension. The early start of 7.15 am from Fort William gave rise to some impressive lighting conditions if the sun happened to be shining, as in this June 1985 shot of the train running along the side of Loch Eilt. The locomotive was Black 5 44767.
