Recollection on the subject is vague, but I think that for a few seasons in the 1980s, a summer Sunday excursion ran from Edinburgh to Oban, using one of the weekday Edinburgh-Glasgow push pull sets accompanied by an ‘ETHEL’. This shot dates from July 1985 and shows one of these drawing to what I think was an unscheduled halt at Drumchapel. I'm afraid I did not keep note of the Class 37 number.
