Ashington

Class 158 Supersprinter units are the staple rolling stock on the Ashington branch although Class 156s are also employed. 158855 has just arrived from Newcastle and a smart six minute turnround is allowed before its return journey commences. In the background can be seen the platform of the original station and also the freight lines which continue in daily use for trains conveying biomass pellets from Tyne Dock to Lynemouth Power Station.
