Lowton: 195123 slowly negotiates the tight curve at Lowton as it approaches Golborne Junction and the WCML heading to Windermere from Manchester Airport on 8th February 2021. This is the site of Lowton station, which closed in 1949, and the remains of a platform can be seen on the right. The old ramp to the other platform is now used for engineer access. The signal above the train controls Lowton Junction, providing links to the east and west facing junctions with the Liverpool and Manchester Railway.

Niddrie West Junction: The Tees Dock - Mossend containers ease slowly past the emergency works compound approaching Niddrie West Junction on the morning of 7 June 2018. The works were in connection with a subsidence problem caused by old mine workings in the area and lasted for several weeks, with the up line between Niddrie West and Niddrie South Junctions closed for much of this time. For the view in the opposite direction see image [[64369]].

Eastleigh Shed: BR Standard Class 4MT 2-6-0 76063, seen on Eastleigh shed in April 1967. It didn't have much time left as a complete loco, as the next time I saw it was four months later when it was noted standing in Cashmores yard in Newport, South Wales awaiting its turn for scrapping. The loco was built at Doncaster Works, and fitted with the larger capacity BR1B tender for working on the Southern Region routes. It entered service in 1956; having a working life of just over 10 years. See image [[31425]] for the loco to its rear.
