Carstairs: The Down platform at Carstairs looking north in August 1997. The by-then oversized building was rather run down and was demolished 2 years later; it was presumably deemed too expensive to repair and maintain. The much more modest building which replaced it seems perfectly adequate.

Tyldesley: Although it closed in 1969, and was lifted soon afterwards, it wasn't until 2016 that five miles of guided busway was constructed on the Leigh and Tyldesley loop line between Ellenbrook and Leigh. Tyldesley is the main intermediate town and its bus interchange, seen here looking west in February 2021, is built on the site of the railway goods yard, the island in the turning circle being the exact location of the goods shed. The car park beyond the lights is on the site of the station forecourt and buildings with the busway to Leigh passing through the line of the platforms.

Balshaw Lane Junction: Pathfinders 'The Lancs Links' railtour on 7 March 2015 is seen at Balshaw Lane Junction with 37604 leading and 37419 on the rear. At this point the tour was heading to Preston and, after a reversal, travelled to Ormskirk followed by a trip to Preston Docks before heading south.

Glasgow Central: Superpower for the 5.20pm service to Gourock, awaiting departure from Glasgow Central behind Polmadie’s 73059 and 73060 on 6th April 1967. On the platform a nice line up of parked 1960s motor cars, as they did then, with a Ford Corsair nearest the camera.

Halton [NWR]: Since I last photographed the M6 bridge over the Lancaster to Wennington trackbed (see image [[23392]]) the Bay Gateway road has been completed and also spans this popular cyclepath. This view towards Halton station and Wennington on 19th February 2021.

Kilmarnock: 156430 to Stranraer and 156456 to Glasgow Central, at Kilmarnock station around lunchtime on 25th July 2017. Two of my friends can be seen on the left in the background, patiently waiting for me to get my photos! We then boarded the Stranraer train that we travelled on as far as Ayr.
