Crossbarry: Crossbarry, previously Kinsale Junction, looking west to Bandon with the up (Cork) platform visible but now on private land. This station was opened with the branch to Kinsale in 1863 and closed in 1961 (the branch closed in 1931). The layout here was quite extensive with an island platform for down trains and Kinsale branch trains on the left, now covered by containers used by a local sports club and some mobile homes. Three tracks passed between the platforms, the middle one subsequently being lifted.
Crook o' Lune Viaduct [West]: What a view of the railway this house must have had prior to 1966. [[22834]] This is the westerly Crook o' Lune viaduct in February 2021. The east viaduct is just through the overbridge. Centre to centre they are a mere 200 metres apart but the River Lune flows for a kilometre around the Crook between the two.
Cathcart: 380103 arrives at Cathcart on 10 January 2019 with a service from Neilston to Glasgow Central. The EMU is crossing Cathcart West Junction as it enters the station.
Sheriffhall [2nd]: Southern approach to the A6106 road bridge at Melville Gate in July 2012, more than 40 years after this section of the Waverley route had closed and with the first scheduled passenger services on the new Borders Railway still more than 3 years away. At this time the old railway route formed part of the Penicuik - Dalkeith Walkway, with the path beyond the bridge turning off to reach Old Dalkeith Road. Today trains on the Borders Line run through here, with Kings Gate Junction on the other side of the bridge. For the view north from the bridge itself on the same day see [[39712]].
Scottish Industrial Railway Centre [1st]: Industrial Locomotives awaiting restoration by Ayrshire railway preservation society at Minnivey, pictured in 1989.
Fetteresso Viaduct: Foul weather for a photograph. COLAS 70814 (0M84), running light engine to Worthington, crossing the Fetteresso Viaduct over the Stonehaven A90 bypass.
Montrose: There are several bygones in this view of an Aberdeen-bound GNER service passing Montrose South box in October 1998.
Balham: LUL 1995 stock arriving at Balham station in south London with a Northern Line service to Morden, on 10th November 2012. Opened in 1926, this was the scene of a WWII disaster on 14th October 1940. Underground stations were used as air raid shelters and usually provided a safe environment but, on this occasion, a bomb landed on the pavement above causing a crater into which a bus crashed. The impact caused the northbound platform tunnel to collapse and the station was flooded from fractured water mains and sewers which flowed into the southbound platform tunnel, seen here. 66 shelterers were killed and 72 injured, closing the line between Trinity Road (renamed Tooting Bec in 1950) and Clapham Common. However, the damage was repaired fairly quickly and this section reopened on 12th January 1941. (NB: The Company caption is incorrect, it should be City & South London Railway (Morden Extension)).
Donibristle Platform: GBRf 66753 'EMD Roberts Road', with 66786 on the rear, passes the site of Donibristle Platform with a Laurencekirk to Millerhill engineers train on 21 March 2021.
Hyndland Depot: For a few years after the electrics were introduced, the headshunt from Hyndland's electric depot usually had a J37 on display, which I assume was occasionally used to move units about (though I don't think I ever actually saw that happen!). (In the later years of the depot a 303 remained at the end of this siding year after year, visible from the station.)
