Maxwell Park: Maxwell Park station was not looking in terrific shape in March 1998. In fact the canopy glazing was soon to be replaced as part of an award-winning restoration and the station has looked dandy ever since

Dalwhinnie: This is the derailed HST just south of Dalwhinnie station (off to the right), in a view from the east. Loch Ericht is in the background.

Dalwhinnie: This is the HST that derailed around 3AM this morning. Rail Accident Investigation Branch released a statement: 'We are deploying inspectors to gather evidence following the derailment of a test train at Dalwhinnie on the Highland Line in Scotland.'

Dalwhinnie: The derailed HST with power cars 43015 and 43012 south of Dalwhinnie. The RAIB said: 'The train consisted of a short-form HST that was travelling south when the last two vehicles derailed in proximity to points.' Note the station top left and the crossover between the station and train.

Bad Cannstatt: New (unsightly) 4 track bridge over the River Neckar which is part of the new Stuttgart 21 railway plan, the tracks will disappear into two new twin bore tunnels which can just be seen. Coming from a Civil engineering background I think the columns are a bit on the thin side to carry the weight of the trains.

Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal: This picture taken through the fence which used to protect the radio transmitters for the BBC World Radio Clock Service shows progress in extending the line through the current Daventry container terminal (see image [[52516]]) - notice the container suspended from the crane in the background - towards the A5. There is a generously proportioned concrete arch bridge - without site access, I speculate (a) that it crosses a watercourse and (b) that it is an accommodation bridge.

The move to Fort William is scheduled for Monday 12th April.

Oban: A Class 37 leaves Oban for Connel Ferry on Petroleum duties in 1991. Loading in the background is the MV 'Isle of Mull'. The freight sidings have since been lifted but the ship is still plying the same route in 2021.

Milngavie: A Class 320 stands at Milngavie in March 1999, nicely illustrating the exact match between operator livery and station colour scheme in this period. Attractive yes, but perhaps a little backwards-looking.
