Waterloo: LUL 1992 stock at Waterloo, Waterloo & City Line, looking towards the line's underground depot, on the day the line reopened (peak hours only), 7th June 2021 after having been shut since March 2020 due to the covid pandemic. These trains, also used on the Central Line, replaced the Southern Railway Class 487 units, dating from 1940, in 1993 and in the following year, the line was handed over to London Transport ownership when LU roundels here and at Bank replaced the old Southern Region signs.

Waterloo: An announcement on LBC Radio on 7th June 2021 informed listeners that the Waterloo & City Line would reopen that day, having closed with the first covid lockdown in March 2020. What LBC did NOT say is that it would only be open in peak hours as I found out when I was confronted by gates and this notice at Waterloo. With time to kill before the beginning of the evening peak at 15.23, I had a short trip to Wandsworth Town and back, from the former Waterloo International Eurostar terminus, now reopened as platforms 20 to 24 of the National Rail Waterloo station.

Saxmundham: Fond farewells at Saxmundham around 08.12 on Tuesday 8th May 1984 as 37050 revs up to restart the Lowestoft – Liverpool Street through service. The occasion was also a fond farewell to locomotive hauled passenger trains on the East Suffolk line, which came to an end the following Saturday.

Walkden Low Level: Walkden (Low Level), on the Bolton Great Moor St line, closed to passengers in 1954 and all buildings and platforms were cleared. The trackbed is part of Salford City Council's popular network of old railway footpaths and cycleways. This view looks towards Little Hulton and Bolton on 19th April 2021.

Knaresborough: The stone signal box at Knaresborough, looking south west from the end of platform 1 on 24 April 2009. Out on Knaresborough Viaduct is an empty DMU which had recently arrived with a terminating service from Leeds at platform 2. The train has since reversed out onto the viaduct via the crossover and is now about to run back into platform 1 where it will form the return service to Leeds.

Raskelf: One of the two former Scotrail liveried, dedicated Fife Circle locos, DRS 68007 runs down the ECML up slow line approaching the Raskelf station site with the diverted 11.00 Mossend to Daventry Tesco intermodal working on Bank Holiday Sunday 30 May 2021. These workings over recent weekends have normally had a class 88 electro-diesel ahead of the class 68, as did the opposing working that I unfortunately overlooked.

Edinburgh Waverley: A morning Tweedbank to South Gyle snakes its 5 coaches from Platform 1 to the Platform 19 line as it departs Waverley on 19 May 2021. Not surprisingly, it seemed a bit short of the usual commuters for offices around the Gyle area. Meanwhile a rather dusty looking Pikachu peeks at you.
