Shawfair: The list of nearby(!) attractions at Shawfair seems to be shrinking. I sneak myself towards the suspicion that the site for the station was chosen because the land for the car park and approach road was cheap; it is the site of a pithead. A few hundred metres further south and it would be nearer both the current villages and planned development.

Whalley: Northern 150002 departs from Whalley on 26 May 2021 heading to the final stop at Clitheroe. Having acquired this and sister 150001 3 car units from Great Western, Northern have formed some further 3 car sets by inserting a carriage from a 150/2 set into a 150/1 set.

Palace Gates Wood Green: View along the trackbed of the former Palace Gates branch. with a makeshift footpath cutting diagonally across (the line went off to the left), towards the site of Palace Gates Wood Green station, marked by the houses, on 8th May 2021. This closed to passengers on 7th January 1963 and to freight on 5th October 1964. When the line was in use, a pedestrian subway was available to cross the line but that has long been filled in and replaced by a level walkway in front of where the station used to be.

North Berwick: 385020 at North Berwick, with the 12.12 from Edinburgh, about to return at 12.50 on 29th May 2021. Services were well patronised, the busiest trains I have seen in fifteen months.

Blacksboat: Blacksboat, looking north eastwards along the cycle path, in July 2012. One of those closed stations that seem to be crying out for a train to call again.

Newtongrange: Light rain has just started to fall at Newtongrange on the morning of 20 May 2021 as the 1002 ScotRail service to Edinburgh (0929 ex-Tweedbank) arrives at the platform. Note the zig-zag pathway leading from the car park up the hillside to the National Mining Musem.

Kyle of Lochalsh: View down the access ramp to Kyle of Lochalsh Station in June 2011 with the normal operational line to the right hand platform, and the rarely used excursion lines and platform to the left. My first visit to the station was as a 16 year old in August 1963, with a group of fellow Railfan Club members on a tour around Scottish installations, after we disembarked from the MacBrayne Ferry that at the time operated a service along the Sound of Sleet from Mallaig to Kyle. To pass time to departure of the train to Inverness we crossed over to Kyleakin on the chain ferry, and had a knock about with a ball on the beach. It was to be a further 48 years before setting foot on Skye again, with my now late wife, for a two nights stay at the Bosville Hotel in Portree. See image [[34743]].

Eastfield Shed: On 30th September 1964, Thornton's 'Austerity' 2-8-0 90628 was in fine trim at Glasgow's Eastfield depot after overhaul in Cowlairs works, although the NBL and BRCW diesels in the background reflected the fact that Eastfield's own steam allocation was much diminished by that time.
