Hindley South: Hindley South was on the GCR branch to Wigan Central. It opened as Strangeways and Hindley, later becoming Hindley and Platt Bridge and finally Hindley South but closed in 1964. These stone setts on the approach road to the old goods yard are a reminder of railway days. The passenger station was to the left of the road bridge but nothing remains of that. To the right of the bridge was Strangeways Junction, where chords to the Whelley Loop diverged left and right while the Wigan Central line continued straight ahead.

Stanley Junction: A shot taken from an Inverness - Glasgow train in June 1982 of the Forfar branch heading north from Stanley Junction. The line closed a few days later with two return trips being operated from Perth to Forfar behind 40143 on 05/06/1982.

Sudbury [2nd]: Doh! I put the wrong grid reference into the RailScot TARDIS and ended up in the Gentleman's facilities on Sudbury (Suffolk) station on 10th April 1982. Still, there is a story to be had here as can be seen from the outrage chalked on the wall and the unsympathetic riposte. The station had been unstaffed since 1966, so presumably the message was from a visiting caretaker who was appalled at the abuse of the facility. Needless to say, the abuse continued and the threat was carried out soon after my visit. The last parts of the 1865 station were demolished in 1991 and the replacement structure provided nearby was built without such liabilities. Riposte graffiti partially obscured because of expletive.

Millport Pier: MV 'Maid of Cumbrae' sets off from Millport in September 1964, one would think probably on the afternoon cruise to Dunagoil Bay.

Prestwick Town: This is Prestwick Town on 28th December 2023 with the terminating 14.56 shuttle from Ayr approaching. Its passengers will be collected by the empty Class 380 following from the loop at Falkland Yard to form the 15.10 to Glasgow Central.
