Newtongrange [1st]: On a dreich 31st January 1966, 9F 92161 is approaching Newtongrange station with the 13.35 Millerhill - Kingmoor freight. The train has started on the 16 mile 1 in 70 climb from Hardengreen to Falahill and already the sound effects are good. This was the last day of booked steam freights over the Waverley Route, passenger working having ended two weeks previously with the closure of Hawick shed, but with Kingmoor remaining open until December 1967 steam still made appearances.

Foxlow Junction: Diverted away from its normal route, 68001 heads south at Foxlow Junction with 4Z27, the 0538hrs Coatbridge to Daventry service, in the wintry landscape. The Scotland - Daventry and Daventry - Scotland services were diverted on 11th January 2025 due to engineering work on the booked route via the West Coast.

Conder Green: A crisp still November morning for a walk on the old Glasson Dock branch from Conder Green to Glasson itself. Tide just past its peak and beginning to ebb from the Conder into the Lune.

Bedlington: View from 158817, ex-11.30 Northern service from Ashington to Newcastle, passing the junction at Bedlington with the freight line to Morpeth via Choppington, at 11.35 on the second day of the Ashington line's reopening, Monday, 16th December 2024. The Morpeth line closed to passengers in 1950, fourteen years before the Ashington line, but has not been included in the 2024 reopening, despite the convenient connections this would give with the ECML at Morpeth, especially to the north. However, a UK Railltours' excursion traversed this line on 7th April 2018 (see my photo image [[76439]] passing the site of Choppington station).
