Moncrieffe Tunnel: Double headed Class 21/22? diesels heading South towards Friarton Tunnel, Perth, in the early '60s.
Newchurch No 2 Tunnels: Looking towards Bacup, and Newchurch No.2 Tunnel, in The Glen between Waterfoot and Stacksteads, on 27th December 2024. This view taken from just beyond the north portal of No. 1 Tunnel and inside the cliff on the right is the parallel Thrutch Tunnel, which was excavated when the Bacup branch was made double track but is now sealed off. The last train ran to Bacup in December 1966 but the opening of the two Newchurch Tunnels to pedestrians and cyclists is a recent innovation.
Kentish Town [LUL]: LU 1995 stock, Northern Line to High Barnet, departing from Kentish Town at 16.16 on Tuesday, 14th January 2025, less than a month after it reopened on 23rd December 2024 after an 18 months closure that began on 26th June 2023 to refurbish the escalators, which TfL had claimed to be "the worst on the Underground". The refurbishment took longer than expected and the station's reopening was put back on two occasions. Originally opened by the Charing Cross, Euston & Hampstead Railway on 22nd June 1907, this is an interchange with National Rail Thameslink trains.
Nairn: The listed signal box at Nairn West looks in good condition, despite having been disused for over 24 years, as 158715 arrives with 1H55, the 11.57 Aberdeen - Inverness on 14th January 2025.
Carnforth Shed [LNWR]: Barclay 0-4-0ST number 1 of Cooke & Nuttall on the demonstration line at Steamtown Carnforth in June 1981, about to pass the turntable.
Stonea: 31440 has the 1015hrs Birmingham New Street to Norwich service, approaching Stonea on 7th May 1984. The 18 Foot Drain river is out of view.
Crieff Viaduct: This view looks west over school playing fields in Crieff towards the site of Crieff Viaduct (an abutment is just about visible in the middle of this view). The embankment which carried the railway east from the viaduct has been landscaped.
Crewe: The first and last daily Euston services at Blackpool have now gone over to Evero units but the later morning and early afternoon trains are still Pendolinos. This is Pride train 390119 on 9A53, the 1151hrs Blackpool North to Euston, in Platform 5 at Crewe on 6th January 2025. The '9' headcode on WCML services denotes a through service running via Birmingham.
