Lonmay: Looking towards Fraserburgh at the site of Lonmay station. There were two platforms here, which are still in place and overgrown, but the buildings on the Aberdeen platform have been demolished and there is a house in the goods yard site. Lonmay is in a sparsely populated area but remained open until the line closed in 1965. See image [[15603]] of Lonmay in 1945.
Alnwick (Lionheart): The Aln Valley’s recent acquisition, Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0 saddle tank 'Renishaw Ironworks No 6' is at Alnwick Lionheart station on 5 May 2025 and will shortly leave on the short journey to Greenrigg. Note the splendid condition of the loco.
Lewisham Road: Passing view of the site of Lewisham Road station on 7th April 2025. This opened in 1871 with the line from Nunhead to Blackheath Hill, extended one stop to Greenwich Park in 1888. The line closed in 1917 as a WWI economy but in 1929 the section from Nunhead to just east of Lewisham Road was reopened, with a new spur into Lewisham station allowing trains from the south-east lines into Victoria, although for many years this was peak hours only. However, Lewisham Road and Brockley Lane were not reopened and the line to Greenwich Park was lifted and stations demolished.
West Calder: The Sunday 08.05 Edinburgh - Birmingham was a regular diversion via Shotts in 1979 and in this shot, from July that year, has just passed through West Calder station, which at that time still had an operational goods yard and signal box.
Newcastle Central: The late running 13.43 Azuma 821110 to Edinburgh about to depart Newcastle on 13th March 2025. Everything on the East Coast Main Line was running late due to a speed restriction so our train was also delayed causing us to miss our connection to Motherwell. A wee change of plans was required so we went to Uddingston instead.
Moy: After an absence of many months there were two 6S99 workings in one week. Heading for Georgemas Junction on 2nd April 2025 were 68001 'Evolution' leading the specialist flask wagons with 68016 'Fearless' at the rear.
Strathyre: Strathyre station was on the left in this view which looks north alongside the A84. The car park for the shop is roughly where the goods yard entrance and carriage turning circle were located.
Leven: Turbostar 170410 departing Leven, as 2G10 at 11:43 for Edinburgh on 29th May 2025.
