This viaduct is about half way along Loch Treig, it is the largest of the many bridges (and culverts) carrying the line over streams in the area. The line crosses the Allt Coire Mheadhoin / Allt an Dubh-chamais Mòr here. (Just to the north it crosses the Allt an Dubh-chamais Beag.)
On the 28th of June 2012 GBRf 66734 'The Eco Express', working a loaded northbound train for the Lochaber Smelter, derailed alongside Loch Treig following a landslip. The accident occurred just over a mile north of the viaduct, immediately to the south of Coire Sgrìodain.
Tank wagons were removed relatively easily to Corrour but the locomotive was ultimately considered a write-off and cut up on site, the pieces taken north to Tulloch (see image 44705).
