Built from the former Limerick and Ennis Railway just west of the Shannon Viaduct to Ardnacrusha where a hydro power station was under construction, Ardnacrusha Hydro Power Station. A narrow gauge system, dating from 1925, connected Limerick Docks to Ardnacrusha to O'Briensbridge, around 60 miles of track within the system.
