Served by the Monkton and Annbank Branch (Glasgow and South Western Railway). This colliery was opened mid way along the Monkton and Annbank Branch (Glasgow and South Western Railway), on the south side of the line, in 1911. It was near Troon and generally known as Glenburn. The area workshops were located here.
When the north-south runway of Prestwick Airport opened the railway was severed along with the sidings at the east end of the mine - new sidings were laid on a curve parallel to the runway. The line east of the airport closed completely and to the west it remained open (although a south facing connection was put in at Monkton).
It closed in 1973/4. The colliery site is now service buildings of airport.
