This was the works of the Scottish Stamping and Engineering Company Limited, established in 1900. The works was taken over by GKN in 1953. The works made parts for the automotive industry under various owners until closure in 2010.
Sidings on the north side of the Ayr and Mauchline Line (Glasgow and South Western Railway), just east of Blackhouse Junction, served the works. The sidings made a trailing connection to the eastbound line.
Opposite was a council depot siding, Burgh Yard Siding [Ayr].
