This was the southern terminus of the Strathspey Railway [Preserved].
The station was built as British Rail would not permit access to the unused platform at Aviemore. The line from here to Boat of Garten is operated by the Strathspey Railway [Preserved].
The station building here was removed from Dalnaspidal station, disassembled in 1977 and rebuilt here. The footbridge is from Longmorn on the former Morayshire Railway, later Great North of Scotland Railway.
The north end signal box was relocated from Garve (where it was the west box closed in 1984).
The station has now been closed since Aviemore proper has been re-built to allow the Speyside line to use it.
With the station closed, the ex-Dalnaspidal building has been dismantled and moved to Inshriach House, home of the Insider Festival.
