Opened on the Galston Branch (Glasgow and South Western Railway). This was a railway halt, also known simply as Barleith. The halt opened to serve Hurlford Shed and the Hurlford Mineral Sidings. To the east was Mayfield Junction.
After closure of the line the halt was obliterated. However the A76 road bridge, which crossed the double track line east of the halt, still stands.
Interestingly, although the halt was private until 1927 it appears as 'Barleith Station' on OS Maps.
