This single track 1050 ft tunnel is the longest on the line. It is immediately east of Borrodale Viaduct and west of Beasdale station.
Telegraph wires were not taken through the tunnel, but over the top of the land above. A line of poles still remain today, with a particularly tall pole at the highest point now forlorn without wires.
