This was a bus depot of the Great North of Scotland Railway which was a visionary company realising that bus routes extending the railways out to locations beyond the lines was a good idea. The GNSR operated bus service from Ballater began in 1904.
This is a timber building in the north east of the town it was never rail served. Latterly it became a Bluebird Bus depot. It is on first road to left after entering town from east.
The building is partly demolished. The rear part was the bus garage and servicing building. The remaining portion, the front part with the words 'Great North of Scotland Railway' prominently displayed was the waiting room and offices.
