This was the terminus of the Dalmunzie Railway at the hotel, close to Spittal of Glenshee. From here the line ran west up Glen Lochsie.
The hotel was formerly Dalmunzie Lodge. The Lodge was purchased by Sir Archibald Birkmyre in 1920 and rebuilt along with the railway to Glenlochsie Lodge. The Birkmyre were associated with the Gourock Rope Works, Port Glasgow.
The single track line split into three lines on the approach to the hotel, with two lines running into the shed.
