The works of A F Craig & Co Ltd (founded by Archibald Fulton Craig in 1868, company formed 1895). This was a general engineering works, making carpet looms, sugar mills and the shale oil industry (the Abercorn Oil Works was to the north).
The works was located on MacDowall Street, which runs off Caledonia Street in Paisley. It was on the north side of Underwood Goods (Paisley St James). There was a boilerworks on the north side of Caledonia Street opposite the main part of the works and foundry.
The works built a 3ft 1.5in gauge locomotive in the 1870s for use on their small internal tramway which was designed by Robert Craig. It remained in use until the 1960s.
The works closed in the late 1980s/1990s and has been cleared, it is now a car park.
