Description

This is a two platform station. The station is almost entirely underground, but is open at the west end. Ticket offices are at ground level with platforms below.

The station has always been below ground level, located in a deep cutting, being on a line built by cut and cover. The west end of the platforms formerly featured glass canopies. Almost the full length of the platforms were open to the air previously. The ticket office was on North Street.

There had been a signal box here from 1896 to 1931.

Today the western end is cross by the M8 motorway and east end by a car park. Only the central portion is exposed.
