This steel works is open, it is part of the same unit as Dalzell Steel Works also now owned by Liberty House.

Under Colvilles


Initially independent, the works under Colville ownership was provided with iron by the Clyde Iron Works just across the River Clyde. A hot metal road ran west from that works with a line sweeping round the north and west sides of the works to approach the casting bay from the north west.

The open hearth furnace and Clyde Iron Works closed in 1977/78, the Clydebridge works no longer making steel and only a portion remaining open.
