Dalreoch Tunnels (1860-)

There are two single bore tunnels west of Dalreoch Junction and Dalreoch station on the route to Helensburgh Central and the West Highland Railway. The tunnels are 603 yds long.

The line was originally single track, the southern of the two bores being added around 1890. (The line had been double for some time, but tunnel had remained single track - see Dalreoch Tunnel Signal Box.) At the same time the original tunnel was shortened a little at both ends by opening out the tunnel at each end.
