Description

This is is the highest mainline station in England at a height of 1150 feet above sea level. It is a two platform station. The station building, now a private house, stands on the northbound platform. A waiting shelter, open to passengers, is on the southbound platform. The village of Dent is two miles away to the west by road.

The station is located above Cowgill (to the south west) with a steep road with hairpin bends connecting the station and village. The single road continues north east and then north to reach Garsdale the next station north.

The Artengill Viaduct is to the south and Rise Hill Tunnel to the north.
