Opened on the New Monkland Line (Monkland Railways). This was a single platform terminus.
It opened in 1989 on the single track line from Airdrie which, until the mid 1980s, served the Inver House Distillery. This was the westbound track of the former Monkland New Line.
The single platform was built on the trackbed of the former eastbound track. Facilities were fairly minimal, being overshadowed by the station at Airdrie not far to the west.
