This was the works of Thomas Anderson Ltd. The mill was directly north of Dumbarton Castle and south of Denny's fitting out basin. This saw mill was formerly part of the Leven Shipbuilding Yard.
Access to the mill by rail was through the former shipyard to the north (then John Brown Landboilers Ltd). If coming from Dumbarton East Junction (until 1970) direct access was possible. From Leven Shipyard Junction reversal was needed at the shipyard.
The sawmill had two locomotives, from Carntyne Steel Foundry [Renfrew] and, replacing this in 1973, a small locomotive ex of the Dumbarton Gas Works.
