This colliery was west of Sanquhar and on the north side of the railway.
It was sunk by J I McConnell Esq. From 1903 it was owned by Sanquhar and Kirkconnel Colliery Limited and from 1925 by William Baird. From 1931 it was owned by Bairds and Dalmellington Limited and ultimately belonged to the National Coal Board.
It was served by a signal box which closed with the collieries in 1964. Sidings approached the site from the east.
The bings remain.
