Name and dates

Greenfoot Level Crossing (1848-)

Opened on the Caledonian Railway.

Description

This level crossing is north east of Garnqueen North Junction and to the immediate north west of the village of Greenfoot. There was a signal box by the crossing and formerly quarry sidings.

The box was on the south side of the crossing, east of the line. Greenfoot Quarry was served by a siding making a trailing connection north of the crossing and running north east into the quarry. To the west was a siding to South Medrox Quarry later a headshunt. Between Greenfoot and Garnqueen North Junction there is a loop on the northbound line.

The box closed in 1999 and the line is now electrified.
