This was the wagon works of the Ballochney Railway, on the west side of the Kipps Level Crossing. It was a timber building of one road, approached from east. It was located to the east of later Kipps Shed, which first apears on 1858/60 Ordnance Survey map.
The Monkland and Kirkintilloch Railway opened their Mosside Works in 1838, 'opposite' (presumably across the track) to the south of the Greenside Works. This works expanded, presumably allowing the Greenside Works to close and part of its site to be used for the Mosside Works. The sites came under single ownership in 1848 with the creation of the Monkland Railways company.
The works was to the east of Greenside Junction, named for a nearby house on the north side of the line.
